Description

Conduct comprehensive consultations and evaluations of patients with gastrointestinal symptoms, disorders, and diseases, including but not limited to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), peptic ulcers, liver diseases, pancreatic disorders, and gastrointestinal malignancies.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory studies, imaging studies, and endoscopic procedures, to establish accurate diagnoses and formulate individualized treatment plans.
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients, incorporating medical management, dietary and lifestyle modifications, pharmacotherapy, and procedural interventions as appropriate.
Perform a variety of gastrointestinal procedures and endoscopic interventions, including esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), capsule endoscopy, and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (e.g., polypectomy, dilation, stent placement).
Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures, including informed consent, procedural sedation, monitoring, and follow-up examinations to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Educate patients and families about gastrointestinal conditions, treatment options, preventive measures, and post-procedure care instructions to facilitate patient understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists to provide integrated and multidisciplinary care for patients with complex medical conditions.
Participate in gastroenterology clinics, multidisciplinary conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes within the gastroenterology department.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, procedural outcomes, and clinical findings in electronic health records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
