Description

  • Conduct comprehensive fetal assessments using advanced imaging modalities, including ultrasound scans (2D, 3D, and 4D ultrasound), fetal echocardiography, fetal MRI, and other specialized imaging techniques, to evaluate fetal growth, development, and anatomy.
  • Perform prenatal screening tests and diagnostic procedures, such as first-trimester screening, cell-free DNA testing, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and amniocentesis, to assess fetal risk for chromosomal abnormalities, genetic disorders, and structural anomalies.
  • Provide genetic counseling to expectant parents, including discussing prenatal test results, interpreting genetic findings, and facilitating informed decision-making regarding pregnancy management, fetal diagnosis, and reproductive options.
  • Perform fetal interventions and procedures, including fetal blood sampling, fetal transfusions, fetal surgery, and intrauterine interventions, to treat or manage fetal anomalies, optimize fetal outcomes, and improve pregnancy prognosis when indicated.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, primatologists, neonatologists, pediatric specialists, genetic counsellors, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care for high-risk pregnancies, including management of maternal medical conditions and obstetric complications.
  • Communicate effectively with expectant parents, providing emotional support, counseling, and education regarding fetal health, prenatal care, pregnancy risks, and treatment options throughout the pregnancy journey.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records of fetal assessments, diagnostic tests, interventions, and patient consultations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Stay updated on current research, guidelines, and best practices in fetal medicine, maternal-fetal medicine, prenatal diagnosis, and fetal therapy through participation in continuing medical education (CME), conferences, and professional development activities.
