Description
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients scheduled for EMG procedures, including review of medical history, neurological examination, and assessment of vital signs.
- Educate patients about the EMG procedure, explaining its purpose, benefits, and potential discomforts, and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Prepare patients for EMG testing, including positioning, skin preparation, and application of surface electrodes or needles, ensuring patient comfort and cooperation throughout the procedure.
- Assist physicians or neurologists during EMG testing, providing support with electrode placement, equipment setup, and patient monitoring, and ensuring adherence to established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitor patients during EMG procedures, assessing for signs of discomfort, distress, or adverse reactions, and intervene promptly to address any concerns or complications.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients during the testing process, maintaining a calm and comforting demeanor to help alleviate anxiety and promote relaxation.
- Document patient assessments, procedural details, and nursing interventions accurately and comprehensively in the medical record, ensuring completeness and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care, including scheduling of EMG procedures, follow-up appointments, and referrals to other specialists or services as needed.
