Emergency Physician

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Abide by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
• Provide the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/ she are responsible.
• Responsible for the clinical care of the Patients requiring Medical Care according to generally accepted standards.
• To attend all patients in ED as per norms of the Hospital.
• To communicate and cooperate with other medical staff and colleagues who have patients in the hospital and wish to discuss other pertinent medical problems regarding patients in other areas of the hospital.
• To Conduct All Invasive Cardiology Procedures.
• To Counsel patientss relatives and discuss the plan of Care.
• Attend the patient in ED and Conduct Clinical Examinations.
• Take detail history. Put initial treatment order.
• Suggest the necessary investigation and treatment.
• Check all the treatment sheets written by the MOs, make necessary changes and validate.
• Attend to all the patients problems and emergencies. To keep the consultants informed in case of any emergency assistance. To carry out the necessary emergency procedures and if needed shift the patient to ICU in coordination with intensivist of particular ICU.
• See whether all the new/old admission, have been entered in the ward modules by the
• Resident doctor and the discharge summaries of all the patients are updated, so as to avoid any delay, when the patient is due for discharge. To check the discharge summary thoroughly and put the signature on the same.
• Participates in the administrative organization of the Emergency Department and takes part in the development of its rules and regulations as well as standards of care and maintenance of its equipment (in conjunction with the Bio engineering Department).
• Carries out reviews and investigations on drugs, equipment, Physiological and pharmacological matters relevant to Medicine, provides and / or takes part in advisory service to the hospital.
• Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department. Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates in the planning and development of the Emergency Medicine department.
• Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, with the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
• Give the necessary training to the newly joined Resident doctors , making them aware of their job profile and necessary protocols.
