Description

The EDMO(EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT MEDICAL OFFICER) is expected to possess a range of clinical skills and competencies and participate in ongoing professional development to advance clinical practice, participate in system improvement activities and participate in teaching of junior medical and undergraduate staff.
Initial assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department for care. Ensure that patients receive adequate and appropriate assessment and emergency medical care.
Provide medical care to patients presenting to the healthcare facility during assigned shifts.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and examinations of patients to determine diagnoses and treatment plans.
Manage medical emergencies, trauma cases, and acute illnesses in accordance with established protocols and standards of care.
Perform medical procedures and interventions as necessary, including but not limited to suturing, wound care, and administering medications.
Coordinate patient care with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff, to ensure integrated and timely delivery of services.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory investigations, and imaging studies to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients.
Provide appropriate referrals and consultations to specialists for patients requiring further evaluation or specialized care.
Document patient assessments, treatments, and clinical encounters accurately and promptly in electronic medical records (EMR) or paper charts.
