Description

Perform comprehensive assessments of patients prior to dialysis treatment, including reviewing medical history, vital signs, and laboratory results.
Assess vascular access sites (e.g., arteriovenous fistulas, grafts, catheters) for patency, integrity, and suitability for dialysis.
Set up and prepare dialysis machines and equipment according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
Administer dialysis treatment to patients, monitoring their vital signs, fluid status, and electrolyte levels throughout the procedure.
Adjust dialysis parameters as needed to optimize treatment efficacy and ensure patient safety.
Administer prescribed medications and intravenous fluids during dialysis treatment, including heparin for anticoagulation and other medications to manage electrolyte imbalances.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and intervene promptly to mitigate complications.
Provide education to patients and their families about the dialysis procedure, treatment goals, dietary restrictions, and self-care practices.
Teach patients how to manage their vascular access, recognize signs of complications, and adhere to prescribed treatment regimens.
