Description
- Perform CT and MRI scans on patients according to physician orders, ensuring accurate and timely acquisition of diagnostic images with optimal quality and resolution.
- Prepare patients for CT and MRI procedures, explaining the imaging process, obtaining informed consent, and addressing any questions or concerns to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Position patients correctly on the CT and MRI scanners, immobilizing body parts as needed, and adjusting imaging parameters to capture images of the desired anatomical area with appropriate contrast and detail.
- Operate CT and MRI equipment safely and efficiently, following established protocols and safety guidelines to minimize radiation exposure, magnetic field hazards, and other potential risks to patients and staff.
- Monitor patients during CT and MRI procedures, observing for signs of distress or adverse reactions, and providing reassurance, support, and assistance as needed to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Evaluate CT and MRI images for technical quality, identifying artifacts or abnormalities, and making adjustments to imaging parameters or re-scanning as necessary to obtain diagnostically useful images.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare providers to review CT and MRI findings, discuss imaging protocols, and ensure accurate interpretation and reporting of imaging studies for patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of CT and MRI procedures, patient information, imaging parameters, and procedural details in electronic medical records (EMR) or imaging databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on CT and MRI equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and notifying appropriate personnel of any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, continuing education activities, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on advances in CT and MRI technology, imaging techniques, and safety standards.
