Description

Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and techniques.
Operate ultrasonic washers, automated washers, and other decontamination equipment to ensure all instruments are thoroughly cleaned.
Load, operate, and monitor sterilizers (e.g., autoclaves, ethylene oxide sterilizers) to sterilize instruments and equipment.
Ensure that all sterilization cycles meet required parameters and that equipment is functioning properly.
Perform biological and chemical testing to verify the effectiveness of the sterilization process.
Inspect, assemble, and package instruments and equipment for sterilization according to standard procedures.
Label and date packages, ensuring proper documentation for tracking sterilized items.
Maintain a sterile storage area and organize sterile items to ensure easy access and retrieval.
Maintain accurate records of sterilized instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or discrepancies to the CSSD Supervisor.
Ensure that all sterile supplies are rotated and used before expiration dates.
