  • A critical care specialist is a health care professional responsible for investigating, diagonising,and treating patients that requires critical care.
  • After taking a referral from the general medical practitioner,he or she is responsible for examining patients.
  • Diagnose and manage critically ill patients in the ICU, including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, and other life-threatening conditions.
  • Conduct thorough and timely assessments of patients' conditions.
  • Perform and supervise a range of medical procedures required in critical care, including intubation, central line placement, arterial line insertion, and ventilator management.
  • Provide direction to the healthcare team during emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists to coordinate patient care.
  • Facilitate effective communication among team members.
  • Provide leadership in the ICU, overseeing patient care and coordinating activities among the healthcare team.
  • Make critical decisions during emergencies and high-stress situations.
