Description
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including patient interviews, mental status examinations, and review of medical history, to assess patients' mental health status and formulate accurate diagnoses.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' diagnoses, symptoms, preferences, and treatment goals. This may include medication management, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and coordination of care with other healthcare providers.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, including antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anxiolytics, and stimulants, to alleviate symptoms and improve patients' overall functioning.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), supportive therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, to address psychological issues and promote mental wellness.
- Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal ideation, homicidal thoughts, acute psychosis, severe mood disturbances, and substance intoxication or withdrawal, utilizing appropriate crisis intervention techniques and risk assessment tools.
- Collaborate with medical and surgical teams to provide psychiatric consultation liaison services for patients with comorbid medical conditions, addressing the interface between physical and mental health.
