Consultant Neurologist

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide spectrum of neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, neuropathies, myopathies, and dementia.
• Perform and interpret neurodiagnostic tests such as EEG, EMG, NCV, and Evoked Potentials.
• Provide emergency neurological consultations for stroke, seizures, CNS infections, and head injuries.
• Manage acute stroke protocols, including thrombolytic therapy in coordination with the emergency and radiology teams.
• Coordinate care with Neurosurgery, Critical Care, Cardiology, and Rehabilitation departments for multidisciplinary management.
• Provide guidance for long-term neurological rehabilitation and preventive care.

Supervision & Coordination

• Supervise junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff involved in neurological care.
• Conduct departmental rounds and case reviews for all admitted neurology patients.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, safety standards, and clinical quality indicators.
• Collaborate with radiology and neuro-rehabilitation teams for accurate diagnosis and post-treatment support.

Administrative & Academic Contributions

• Maintain meticulous clinical documentation and case records.
• Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
• Contribute to the development and periodic review of Neurology Department SOPs and clinical pathways.
• Conduct and participate in CME sessions, seminars, and training programs for clinical staff.
• Support hospital initiatives in stroke prevention, epilepsy awareness, and neuro-health camps.

Patient & Community Engagement

• Provide counselling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications.
• Promote Neuro-preventive health and early detection awareness among the community through outreach initiatives.
