Consultant Nephrologist

Clinical Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with acute and chronic renal disorders.
• Oversee and monitor patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
• Provide pre- and post-operative management of renal transplant patients.
• Conduct and interpret kidney biopsies, renal function assessments, and related diagnostic tests.
• Coordinate care with other specialists including Urology, Cardiology, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine.

Supervision & Team Coordination

• Supervise the functioning of the Dialysis Unit, ensuring patient safety and adherence to infection control protocols.
• Train and guide junior doctors, dialysis technicians, and nursing staff in nephrology practices.
• Participate actively in clinical meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions.

Administrative & Academic Contributions

• Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records.
• Participate in hospital-wide clinical audits and quality assurance initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and updating of hospital nephrology protocols and SOPs.
• Take part in CME programs, seminars, and community health initiatives on kidney care and prevention.

Patient & Community Engagement

• Counsel patients and families on renal disease management, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
• Support preventive nephrology awareness programs and patient education drives.
