Description

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests and imaging studies, to diagnose and manage a wide range of kidney diseases and related conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans and management strategies for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, glomerular diseases, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, kidney stones, and renal replacement therapies (dialysis and kidney transplantation).
Perform and interpret kidney biopsies, urinalysis, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and other laboratory tests to assess kidney function, disease severity, and response to treatment.
Provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing renal replacement therapies, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation, and manage pre- and post-transplant care to optimize outcomes and prevent complications.
Manage hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients with kidney disease, including pharmacological interventions, lifestyle modifications, and dietary management to control blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular complications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nephrology nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and other specialists, to provide integrated and coordinated care for patients with complex kidney diseases and comorbidities.
Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, treatment options, medication management, dietary restrictions, fluid intake recommendations, and lifestyle modifications to promote kidney health and prevent disease progression.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research studies, and academic activities to advance knowledge and practice in the field of nephrology, contribute to evidence-based practice, and improve patient care outcomes.
