Description

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests, to diagnose and manage kidney-related conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for patients with kidney disease, incorporating pharmacological interventions, dialysis modalities, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle modifications to optimize kidney function and improve patient outcomes.
  • Manage patients undergoing renal replacement therapy, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ensuring safe and effective dialysis treatment and monitoring for complications.
  • Provide pre-transplant evaluation, post-transplant care, and immunosuppressive therapy management for kidney transplant recipients, collaborating with transplant surgeons and coordinating transplant-related care.
  • Manage electrolyte disorders, acid-base imbalances, and hypertension in patients with kidney disease, utilizing appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to maintain electrolyte balance and blood pressure control.
  • Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, treatment options, medication adherence, dietary restrictions, and self-management strategies to promote kidney health and prevent disease progression.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nephrology nurses, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and transplant coordinators, to coordinate patient care and address psychosocial and logistical needs.
  • Participate in clinical research studies, quality improvement initiatives, and academic activities in nephrology, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge and evidence-based practice in the field.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, treatment plans, and clinical notes in compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior physicians, medical residents, and medical students, fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and continuous learning within the nephrology department.
