Description
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with acute and chronic renal disorders.
- Oversee and monitor patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Provide pre- and post-operative management of renal transplant patients.
- Conduct and interpret kidney biopsies, renal function assessments, and related diagnostic tests.
- Coordinate care with other specialists including Urology, Cardiology, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine.
Supervision & Team Coordination
- Supervise the functioning of the Dialysis Unit, ensuring patient safety and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Train and guide junior doctors, dialysis technicians, and nursing staff in nephrology practices.
- Participate actively in clinical meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions.
Administrative & Academic Contributions
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records.
- Participate in hospital-wide clinical audits and quality assurance initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and updating of hospital nephrology protocols and SOPs.
- Take part in CME programs, seminars, and community health initiatives on kidney care and prevention.
Patient & Community Engagement
- Counsel patients and families on renal disease management, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
- Support preventive nephrology awareness programs and patient education drives.
