Job Summary:
- We are seeking a skilled and committed General Surgeon (MS General Surgery) to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in diagnosing and surgically treating a wide range of conditions affecting the abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, skin, soft tissues, and other body systems. The role involves both elective and emergency surgical care, inpatient management, and collaborative multidisciplinary work.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Surgical Duties:
- Evaluate and manage patients presenting with general surgical conditions in OPD/IPD.
- Perform routine and emergency surgeries including (but not limited to):
- Appendectomy, Hernia repairs, Hydrocelectomy.
- Piles, Fissure, Fistula surgeries.
- Laparotomy, Cholecystectomy (open/laparoscopic), Abscess drainage.
- GI surgeries, minor urological and trauma surgeries as applicable.
- Post-operative patient care including follow-up management.
- Handle trauma and emergency surgical cases as per roster/on-call schedule.
- Refer complex or super specialty cases appropriately (e.g., neurosurgery, cardiothoracic).
Administrative & Team Functions:
- Maintain thorough and accurate surgical notes and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols (e.g., NABH standards).
- Coordinate with anesthetists, physicians, and ICU teams for peri-operative care.
- Supervise and train junior doctors, surgical assistants, and nursing staff.
- Participate in audit, CME, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- MS / DNB in General Surgery (MCI/NMC recognized)
- Valid Medical Registration (State or National)
- [Optional] Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, Endoscopy, Trauma Surgery, etc.
Experience:
- Experience with both open and laparoscopic procedures preferred.
Skills Required:
- Strong surgical judgment and procedural skills.
- Emergency decision-making and crisis management.
- Good communication with patients and surgical team.
- Proficiency with laparoscopic techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with medico-legal documentation.
