Description

Perform a wide range of gastrointestinal surgeries, including but not limited to colectomies, gastrectomies, pancreaticoduodenectomies (Whipple procedure), rectal resections, and hernia repairs, using both open and minimally invasive techniques.
Conduct preoperative consultations with patients to discuss treatment options, risks, and benefits of surgery, and obtain informed consent.
Evaluate patients' medical histories, diagnostic test results, and imaging studies to determine the most appropriate surgical approach and develop individualized treatment plans.
Coordinate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions.
Provide perioperative care, including preoperative optimization, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative management, to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and patient recovery.
Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and safety of surgical services.
Supervise and train surgical residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals in gastrointestinal surgery techniques and patient care.
Engage in academic and scholarly activities, including teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and participating in clinical research projects and publications.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and collaborative surgical environment.
