Description

  • To Patients gives support for hemodynamic instability (hypertension/hypotension), airway or respiratory compromise (such as ventilator support), acute renal failure, potentially lethal cardiac dysrhythmias, and frequently the cumulative effects of multiple organ system failure. 
  • Patients admitted to the intensive care unit not requiring support for the above are usually admitted for intensive/invasive monitoring, such as the crucial hours after major surgery when deemed too unstable to transfer to a less intensively monitored unit.
  • Provide expert care for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), including those with respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, and post-operative complications.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and optimize patient management, ensuring timely interventions and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Perform invasive procedures, such as intubation, central venous catheterization, and mechanical ventilation management, with proficiency and attention to patient safety.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, prioritizing critical conditions and managing complex medical cases.
  • Collaborate with consultants from various specialties, including surgery, cardiology, nephrology, and infectious diseases, to provide comprehensive and integrated care for critically ill patients.
