Consultant Cardiologist

Clinical Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular disorders.
• Perform and interpret non-invasive diagnostic tests such as ECG, Echocardiography, TMT, and Holter Monitoring.
• Conduct cardiac catheterization, coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), angioplasty, stenting, and other interventional cardiac procedures.
• Manage and stabilize acute cardiac emergencies, including myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and arrhythmias.
• Evaluate patients pre- and post-procedure, ensuring safe recovery and comprehensive follow-up care.
• Coordinate with cardiac anesthesiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and intensivists for integrated cardiac management.

Supervision & Team Coordination

• Supervise the functioning of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) and ensure strict adherence to sterile and safety protocols.
• Train and mentor junior doctors, cath lab technicians, and nursing staff in interventional cardiology techniques.
• Participate actively in daily cardiac rounds, multidisciplinary case discussions, and cardiac case conferences.

Administrative & Academic Contributions

• Maintain accurate and detailed procedural documentation and patient records.
• Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and mortality and morbidity meetings to ensure quality improvement.
• Contribute to the formulation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practice guidelines for cardiac interventions.
• Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions and research initiatives in interventional cardiology.

Patient & Community Engagement

• Provide counselling to patients and families on diagnosis, procedural risks, lifestyle modification, and rehabilitation.
• Lead preventive cardiology and heart health awareness programs within the hospital and community.
• The Doctor will be responsible for the Medifort Bhagalpur Unit, although the base location will be the Deoghar unit.
