Description

  • Provide prompt and effective medical care for patients with a wide range of emergency conditions, including trauma, cardiac arrest, strokes, respiratory distress, and other acute medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Perform initial assessment, including history-taking, physical examination, and ordering appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, X-rays, CT scans).
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients through interventions such as airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, fracture stabilization, and intravenous medication administration.
  • Conduct minor procedures such as suturing, wound care, abscess drainage, and the reduction of fractures/dislocations.
  • Make decisions regarding the admission or discharge of patients based on clinical findings and coordinate the transfer of patients to appropriate departments for specialized care.
  • Oversee the functioning of the emergency department during shifts, ensuring efficient patient flow and effective use of resources.
  • Coordinate care with other departments (e.g., surgery, cardiology, radiology, intensive care unit) and ensure timely consultations when needed.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and hospital guidelines to maintain a high standard of patient care.
  • Supervise junior doctors, residents, and nurses, providing guidance and assistance as required.
