Description

  • Study and internalize all the guidelines stated in the Blood Bank standard operating manual and seek guidance from Consultant-Transfusion Medicine.
  • Ensure that all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are in place and have been prepared taking in to account the Government rules and regulations, are adequately followed.
  • Inspect the donor area for cleanliness, staff sufficiency and equipment functionality.
  • Conduct regular checks on Blood Inventory, Apheresis Register and the Start-up Register
  • Schedule appointments for Platelet donors/counseling patients and their relatives.
  • Regularly check serology reports of donors and counseling.
  • Co-ordinate with the laboratory staff for serology and quality control reports.
  • Check monthly reports and weekly stocks of consumables.
  • Regularly check and sign on previous day's blood donor cards.
  • Check and sign the Voluntary Blood Donor cards and certificates for indoor and outdoor blood donors.
  • Prepare and maintain incident reports.
  • Monitor service reports of equipments in the donor area.
  • Attend to the complaints by the staff members / donors.
  • Orient new staff members joining at periodic intervals.
  • Actively participate in weekly academic meetings, conferences, CME, organizing workshops and publishing scientific papers.
  • Coordinate with Medical Social Workers (MSW)/PRO for organizing camps, technical matters and detailed logistics of the camps.
  • Develop sound rapport with donor organizers, regular blood and platelet donors.
  • Attend outdoor blood donation camps and supervise the activities therein.
  • Manage the donor area which includes:
  • Eliciting complete medical history from the donors.
  • Examining Donors.
  • Supplying relevant information to the donors and educating and motivating them for further blood donations.
  • Blood Collection.
  • Managing the Apheresis procedures round the clock (night duties included) and specialized procedures like peripheral blood stem cells.
  • Follow standard Operational procedures (SOPs) of KDAH and report deviation if any from the same to the Consultant-Transfusion Medicine.
  • Report and consult the Consultant-Transfusion Medicine on any of the above matters as and when required.
  • Sign all the legal documents at the Blood Bank for external or internal medical communications.
  • Study the stock of tested and untested blood available in the bank to serve the query of the patient as and when required.
  • Study the existing rates of blood and its components vis--vis its processing costs so as to clarify the same in sensitive situations and thus provide proper clarity to the donors and patients about the service motive of the Blood Bank
  • Deal with any changes, delays, or unexpected events on a day to day basis.
  • Maintain records and ensure smooth operating of Blood Bank equipments and temperature charts on a day to day basis.
  • Discharge field duties and attend blood donation camps as and when required by the management.
  • Ensure dissemination of information pertaining to pre/post voluntary blood donations and take necessary precautions.
  • Ensure a record of all emergency medicine stock and its availability on a daily basis.
  • Ensure safekeeping and return in good condition and proper order of all the properties of the Organization which may be in your use, custody or otherwise.
  • Familiarize with the blood bank software, monitor its functioning and ensure timely entry of data.
  • Monitor and facilitate the day to day lab activities.
  • Follow the monthly reporting system at KDAH
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and strive to improve/promote quality.
  • Be punctual, honest, and sincere and work with dedication during your tenure at the Blood Bank.
  • Undertake various additional duties that may be within the scope of the post, as and when requested by Consultant-Transfusion Medicine.
  • General Overall Supervision of departmental activity.
