Description

Provide assistance to cardiologists and other healthcare providers during cardiac catheterization procedures, including setup and preparation of equipment, positioning patients, and sterile draping.
Operate and monitor cath lab equipment and imaging technologies, including fluoroscopy machines, angiography systems, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and physiological recording systems, to ensure optimal image quality and procedural accuracy.
Monitor patients' vital signs, assess patients' cardiac status, and provide care and support during cath lab procedures, including administration of medications, contrast agents, and intravenous fluids as directed by the physician.
Implement radiation safety protocols and practices to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and oneself during fluoroscopy-guided procedures, including proper use of shielding devices and adherence to ALARA principles.
Recognize and respond to medical emergencies and complications during Cath lab procedures, including cardiac arrhythmias, hypotension, contrast reactions, and access site complications, with prompt and effective interventions to stabilize patients.
Maintain sterile field integrity during cath lab procedures, adhere to aseptic techniques, and ensure proper handling and disposal of sterile supplies and equipment to prevent infections and complications.
Document procedural details, patient assessments, medications administered, and post-procedure care accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records (EMRs) and cath lab reports, ensuring compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare team members to facilitate smooth workflow, coordinate patient care, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the cath lab procedure.
