Description
- Receive, label, and process blood donations according to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Perform blood typing, compatibility testing, and antibody screening using manual and automated methods.
- Prepare blood components, such as packed red blood cells, platelets, and plasma, for transfusion or further processing.
- Perform quality control checks and maintain accurate records of testing results, donor information, and blood product inventory.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, refrigerators, and blood typing instruments, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Prepare blood products for distribution to healthcare facilities, ensuring proper labelling, packaging, and documentation.
- Monitor blood inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels and meet patient needs.
- Follow established procedures for the storage, handling, and disposal of blood products and biohazardous materials.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff, to provide timely and accurate blood products for patient care.
