Biomedical Engineer

Job Summary: 

• The Biomedical Engineer will work on the design, development, and maintenance of medical devices and healthcare systems. 
• This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals, engineers, and manufacturers to create technologies that improve patient care. 
• The engineer will ensure that all biomedical equipment is safe, effective, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  
  Key Responsibilities:
  
  Design and Development:
• Design and develop new medical devices, such as prosthetics, implants, diagnostic machines, and therapeutic equipment.
• Create and test prototypes to ensure they meet functional requirements and safety standards.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed schematics and blueprints.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, to gather requirements and incorporate feedback into designs.
  
  Testing and Validation:
• Conduct experiments and simulations to test the performance of biomedical equipment.
• Analyse test data and modify designs to improve functionality and safety.
• Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA regulations).
  
  Maintenance and Support:
• Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
• Provide technical support and training to healthcare staff on the use and care of medical devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  
  Regulatory Compliance:
• Prepare technical documentation, including user manuals, safety reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Ensure that all products and processes comply with local, national, and international regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and standards.
  
  Research and Innovation:
• Conduct research to explore new technologies and materials that could improve medical devices.
• Stay current with advances in biomedical engineering by reading scientific literature and attending conferences.
• Innovate and propose new solutions to complex healthcare challenges.
  
  Project Management:
• Manage projects from concept through production, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
• Monitor project progress and report to management on milestones and potential risks.
